The sun with a face — one of the oldest and most universal symbols in human art, found in every culture from ancient Aztec to medieval European to Art Nouveau — hand-hammered in raised copper relief, the face and rays finished in deep black against a silver-plated ground. The Silver–Black finish gives the sun its most dramatic and graphic quality: the face drawn in black on silver, the rays spreading outward, the whole design reading as something ancient and powerful. Hand-hammered from flat copper sheet in our family workshop using traditional chasing and repoussé techniques passed through generations. The Silver–Black Details finish silver-plates the background while applying a deep black patina to the raised sun face and rays — the contrast built into the hammering itself.
