Copper Backsplash Installation Guide

Installing a Natuross copper kitchen backsplash is simple. Most customers choose adhesive mount and install directly over tile, drywall, wood, stone, or metal.

Your backsplash arrives as a finished, sealed panel, custom made to your selected size and finish. No sealing is needed before installation. Choose the installation method that fits your wall and your project.

Copper kitchen backsplash installed behind stove

1. Adhesive Mount

Most popular. Best for most copper kitchen backsplashes. Installs directly over tile, drywall, wood, stone, brick, or metal using construction adhesive, tile adhesive, silicone, or MS-polymer adhesive.

2. Screw Mount

Maximum strength. Best for very large panels, outdoor areas, fireplaces, brick, stone, or any place where extra mechanical support is preferred.

3. Hanging Wire

Decorative and removable. Best for wall art, signs, plaques, and decorative panels. For kitchen backsplashes, adhesive or screw mount is usually better.

Adhesive Mount, Most Popular

This is the easiest option and the method most customers choose for stove and kitchen backsplash panels. The panel installs like a wall tile, but it is one solid handmade metal panel instead of many small tiles.

  1. Make sure the wall is clean, dry, flat, and stable.
  2. Apply adhesive to the back of the panel only, not to the decorative front.
  3. Press the panel firmly into place and check that it is level.
  4. Use painter’s tape only to help hold alignment while the adhesive cures.
  5. Allow the adhesive to cure fully before cleaning or heavy use.

Adhesive mount works over existing tile, drywall, wood, stone, brick, or metal when the surface is properly prepared.

Screw Mount, Maximum Strength

Screw mount is the strongest installation method. It is recommended for very large panels, outdoor areas, fireplaces, masonry walls, or any installation where extra strength is desired.

  1. Hold the panel in position and mark the hole locations.
  2. Drill pilot holes. Use proper anchors if installing on drywall, tile, brick, stone, or masonry.
  3. Drive screws through the pre-drilled panel holes.
  4. Cover the screw heads with the decorative caps if included with your order.

The installer should choose anchors and fasteners suitable for the wall material.

Hanging Wire, Decorative and Removable

Hanging wire is best for decorative wall art, family name signs, house plaques, and panels that you may want to move later. It is not the main method we recommend for a permanent kitchen backsplash behind a stove.

  1. Install hooks, nails, or proper wall hangers at the correct spacing.
  2. Hang the panel using the attached wire or D-rings.
  3. Adjust until level.

Heat and Stove Use

Natuross copper backsplashes are designed for use behind stoves and ranges. The clear protective finish helps protect the metal from everyday kitchen use, grease, moisture, and fingerprints.

The panels are heat-resistant, but they are not fireproof. Keep at least 2 inches of clearance from any open flame and always follow your appliance and local installation requirements.

Multi-Piece Backsplashes

If a backsplash is too large for one single panel, we make it as a multi-piece system. The main focal design, such as a tree, animal, medallion, or central artwork, is kept as one main piece whenever possible.

Side and border pieces are designed to match the center panel. Seams are placed at natural design breaks, not through the main subject.

Installation order: install the center focal panel first, then install the surrounding side or border pieces.
