Fleur-de-Lis Copper Backsplash — Hand-Hammered French Heritage Wall Art
The fleur-de-lis is the most heraldically loaded decorative motif in the Western tradition. The royal house of France carried it on a field of blue for eight hundred years. The city of New Orleans put it on every iron balcony in the French Quarter. The province of Quebec made it the centerpiece of its flag. The Boy Scouts of America adopted it as their universal symbol. No other decorative form in the catalog carries this much cultural identity — or this many specific, passionate communities of buyers.
A hand-hammered copper backsplash and wall art piece of a fleur-de-lis in raised relief — the classic three-petaled form centered in the composition, the symmetrical geometry of the motif rendered in dimensional copper relief, built up from a flat copper sheet one hammer stroke at a time by our family using traditional chasing and repoussé techniques passed through generations. The fleur-de-lis is the composition: the central petal rising, the two lateral petals spreading, the band and the base completing the form. Available in all 15 finishes. Over 10,000 pieces made.
The fleur-de-lis — the stylized lily or iris — appears in French royal heraldry from the 12th century, on the seal of Louis VII, on the golden field of the azur semé de fleurs-de-lis that was the arms of France until the Revolution. It appears in the architecture of the Gothic cathedrals, in the ironwork of the French Quarter of New Orleans (founded 1718, named for the Duke of Orléans), in the flag of Quebec (adopted 1948), in the emblem of the Scouts Mondiaux (founded 1907 by Robert Baden-Powell, who chose the fleur-de-lis from the north point of the compass rose). In Louisiana, the fleur-de-lis is the most specific and most emotionally charged symbol of Creole and Cajun identity — on the wall of the kitchen where the gumbo is made and the zydeco plays.

Every panel can be personalized at no extra charge:
- Family name — centered below the fleur-de-lis or worked into the border
- Established date — the year of a family founding, a home purchase, or a milestone
- Without text — the fleur-de-lis as a pure heraldic composition, no text

Custom Sizes & Layouts
Custom Sizes & Layouts
Every backsplash is made specifically for your kitchen.
Order a single backsplash behind the stove, matching side panels beneath your cabinets, or a complete kitchen backsplash designed for your full layout.
Outlets, switches, pot fillers, windows, vents, and other cutouts can usually be incorporated into the design.
If your exact size is not listed, simply send us your approximate width × height after ordering. We usually add custom sizes quickly.
For the best fit, measure the finished opening and subtract approximately ⅛ inch from each side. This small installation allowance is normally unnoticeable and helps create an easier installation and professional result.
