Copper House Name Sign — Pine Trees — Hand-Hammered Personalized Cabin & Property Sign

Every home that has a name is a home that knows what it is. The named house — the cottage, the cabin, the farm, the lodge — has a different relationship to the land it sits on than the unnamed house. The name says: this place was chosen, not just occupied. The pine trees say: this place belongs to the forest.

A hand-hammered copper house name sign with pine trees in raised relief — your property name or family name as the primary text, the pine trees framing the composition, the whole sign built up from a flat copper sheet one hammer stroke at a time by our family using traditional chasing and repoussé techniques passed through generations. The name and the trees are the composition: the text centered and clear, the pines flanking it with the ease of trees that have always stood beside this door. Available in all 15 finishes. Over 10,000 pieces made.

The house name sign is one of the oldest traditions in the English-speaking world. The named cottage, the named farm, the named estate — from the thatched cottages of the English countryside to the great houses of the Scottish Highlands to the lakeside cabins of the American North Woods — the named property is the property that has been claimed, loved, and given an identity. The pine tree is the most universally understood symbol of the wilderness home: the cabin in the pines, the lodge at the edge of the forest, the retreat that belongs to the trees around it. Together, the name and the pines make a sign that says everything that needs to be said about the place it marks.

How It Works

Step 1 — Tell us your text. Your property name, your family name, your cabin name — exactly as you want it to appear, including spelling, capitalization, and any dates or additional text below the main name.

Step 2 — We design your sign. We create a digital preview showing the text, the pine tree composition, the layout, and the finish. You see exactly what it will look like before we make anything.

Step 3 — You approve it. Nothing goes into production until you say so. We refine the design until it’s right.

Step 4 — It arrives at your door. About 3 weeks from approval. Photos of the finished sign sent before shipping.

What You Can Personalize

  • Main name — your property name, family name, or cabin name — in the letterform and style that suits the sign
  • Secondary text — an established date, a location, a short phrase below the main name
  • Pine tree arrangement — pines flanking the name, pines above, a single centered pine above the text, a full pine forest border
  • Additional motifs — a mountain peak, a lake, a canoe, a bear, a moose, an elk, a deer — any wilderness element that belongs to your property
  • Finish — any of the 15 finishes — Natural Copper reads most naturally against a wooden cabin door; Brown Copper reads most warmly in a lodge interior; Black Copper reads most boldly on a stone or painted wall

Where It Goes

  • Beside the front door — the first thing every visitor sees — the sign that names the place before the door opens
  • On the gate or fence post — at the entrance to the property, visible from the road
  • Above the door — as a transom panel, the name and the pines framing the entrance from above
  • Inside the cabin or lodge — above the fireplace, in the entry hall, or on the great room wall — the sign that names the home from within
  • On the dock or boathouse — the property name at the water’s edge, visible from the lake

Complete the Look — The Full Copper Cabin

Most customers who order a house name sign end up wanting more copper for the same property. The pine tree motif and your chosen finish can carry through to the kitchen backsplash above the stove, the arched panel above the fireplace mantel, a wildlife or lake scene on the great room wall, and additional signs for the dock, boathouse, guest cabin, or barn — all designed as one coordinated set. Reach out and we’ll design the full project together.

  • Housewarming, new property, or milestone gift — the most personally meaningful and most permanently useful gift for the person who has just named their place
  • Lake house, mountain home, or rural property — the copper sign that weathers the seasons beautifully — on the door of the home that is built around the land outside it
  • Family name or established date sign — the sign that carries the family name at the entrance of the home that carries it — permanently, in copper

Materials

Every Natuross backsplash is handcrafted from real 24-gauge copper or brass over a rigid composite backing, creating a finished thickness of approximately ¼ inch.

The result is lightweight, rigid, and designed for long-term use in kitchens and other living spaces.

Each backsplash is sealed with a clear protective finish to help resist moisture, fingerprints, cooking splashes, and everyday wear.

For many years, Natuross has specialized in handcrafted copper kitchen backsplashes, creating more than 10,000 custom pieces installed in homes across the United States.

Custom Sizes & Layouts

Every backsplash is made specifically for your kitchen.

Order a single backsplash behind the stove, matching side panels beneath your cabinets, or a complete kitchen backsplash designed for your full layout.

Outlets, switches, pot fillers, windows, vents, and other cutouts can usually be incorporated into the design.

If your exact size is not listed, simply send us your approximate width × height after ordering. We usually add custom sizes quickly.

For the best fit, measure the finished opening and subtract approximately ⅛ inch from each side. This small installation allowance is normally unnoticeable and helps create an easier installation and professional result.

Design

Choose from one of the largest collections of handcrafted copper backsplash designs available, including trees, wildlife, landscapes, botanical, decorative, symbol, and personalized designs.

Every design can be handcrafted in any available finish and adapted to your measurements.

Looking for something unique? Simply tell us your design idea when ordering. If you have an inspiration image, you may upload it as well.

We create your custom design for approval before production begins.

Every order includes a digital preview, and production begins only after you approve the design.

When your backsplash is complete, we also send photos of the finished work for final approval before shipping.

Installation

Most customers install their backsplash in less than an hour.

Choose from Adhesive Mount, Screw Mount, or Hanging Wire installation.

Adhesive Mount is the most popular choice for kitchen backsplashes and is suitable for most properly prepared drywall, tile, wood, stone, brick, and metal surfaces.

Installation instructions are included with every order.

Care & Cleaning

Natuross backsplashes are designed specifically for kitchens and have been installed behind thousands of stoves and ranges.

Each backsplash is sealed with a clear protective finish that helps keep grease and cooking splashes on the surface, where they can be wiped away with a soft cloth, warm water, and mild dish soap.

No polishing or special maintenance is required under normal household use.

Production & Delivery

After your order is placed, we review the details and usually prepare your digital design preview within one business day.

Once you approve the design, your backsplash is handcrafted specifically for your order. Production typically takes about three weeks, although rush production may be available depending on our workshop schedule.

Before shipping, we send photos of your completed backsplash for final approval.

Orders ship with tracking and are typically delivered about one month after the order is placed.

From your first message to final delivery, our goal is to make ordering a custom copper kitchen backsplash simple, personal, and worry-free.
