Celtic Sailor's Knot Copper Backsplash — Silver–Copper — Hand-Hammered Wall Art
The sailor’s knot — one of the oldest and most enduring Celtic knotwork patterns, the interlacing continuous and unbroken — hand-hammered in raised copper relief in the Silver–Copper finish. Cool silver background, warm copper knotwork: the knot reading in copper relief against the silver ground, every crossing and loop defined in the hammering. A symbol of loyalty, strength, and the sea — in the most refined two-tone version of this design.
Hand-hammered from flat copper sheet in our family workshop using traditional chasing and repoussé techniques. Every crossing, every loop, every interlace formed by hand. Made to your exact dimensions. 15 finishes. Over 10,000 pieces installed.

Build the Full Celtic Home — Surface by Surface
This panel is one piece of something much larger. Every surface in a Celtic home can carry the design — each one different, all in the same finish, the whole house connected by copper.
Stove wall — full backsplash, counter to cabinet
This sailor’s knot panel centered behind the range. On either side, extending to the cabinet edges: a continuous Celtic interlace border running the full width of the wall — the knotwork framing the cooktop left and right, the whole stove wall one unified composition from end to end.
Sink wall — window wall backsplash
A Celtic shamrock medallion centered below the window, flanked by flowing vine and leaf panels running the length of the counter on both sides. The window becomes the frame. The copper fills the wall below it — the shamrock at the center, the vines reaching toward the edges.
Range hood — lower band panels
A continuous Celtic knotwork band wrapping the full lower face of the hood — the interlacing running edge to edge, the same pattern as the stove wall border but scaled to the hood height. The hood stops being an appliance and becomes part of the design.
Kitchen molding — upper cabinet rail
A slim Celtic rope border panel running along the top of the upper cabinets — the twisted rope motif continuous across the full length of the kitchen. Installed like crown molding. The ceiling line becomes a design element.
Cabinet door inserts
Copper panels fitted into the recessed frames of glass-front or open cabinet doors — a small Celtic knotwork medallion centered on each door, or a continuous interlace border running the perimeter of the insert. Every cabinet door becomes part of the design. Made to the exact dimensions of each door panel — send us the measurements and we cut each one to fit.
Island front
A Celtic shield knot panel centered on the island face — the knot large and bold, the island front becoming the focal point of the kitchen when viewed from the living room. Different from every other panel in the kitchen. The island earns its place.
Entryway — house name sign
Your family name in Celtic script — “The Murphy House” or simply “Murphy” — hand-lettered in copper, mounted on the entryway wall. Below it or beside it: your house number in matching Celtic numerals. The first thing anyone sees when they walk in.
Front door — door cladding panels
Copper panels fitted to the face of the front door — a Celtic knotwork border framing the door perimeter, a central panel with a Claddagh or Trinity knot. The door becomes the statement before anyone steps inside. Weatherproof, sealed finish, built for outdoor exposure.
Above the fireplace — Celtic house blessing panel
A large copper panel above the mantle carrying a traditional Celtic house blessing in hand-lettered script — “May your home be filled with laughter” or any phrase that belongs to your family — surrounded by a knotwork border. The fireplace wall becomes the heart of the house.
Living room — feature wall, oversized multi-panel set
A full living room feature wall in copper — a large central panel with an intricate Celtic tree of life, flanked by tall vertical panels carrying continuous knotwork columns, the whole set spanning the wall from side to side. Installed as one seamless composition. The room has never looked like this before.
Bathroom — shower wall accent panel
A copper accent panel set into the shower wall — a Celtic love knot or Trinity knot centered on the main shower wall, the panel flush with the surrounding tile. Fully waterproof, heat resistant, sealed finish. The shower becomes a room worth designing. One panel changes everything.
Bathroom — vanity backsplash
A Celtic knotwork border panel running the full length of the vanity counter — a slim horizontal band of interlacing above the sink, the mirror framed by copper on both sides. A bathroom that feels designed rather than finished.
Send us photos of every surface you want to cover — kitchen walls, hood, island, cabinet doors, door, fireplace, shower, vanity, living room — and we’ll design each one specifically for its space, place the designs into your photos, and send you a full project mockup before you order anything.

Installation & Care
Installation & Care
Installation — three methods:
- Adhesive — stick directly over existing tile, drywall, wood, or stone using any standard construction adhesive. Most popular method. Most customers install in under an hour.
- Screw mount — for large, heavy, or outdoor panels. Ships with screws and decorative caps included.
- Hanging wire — for wall art, signs, and removable installations.
For multi-piece panels: install the central piece first, borders second.
Care:
Wipe with a soft damp cloth. For grease or cooking splashes, warm water and mild dish soap. No polishing, waxing, or re-sealing — ever. The finish you receive is the finish it keeps.
