What Is the Most Popular Copper Backsplash Design?
IBRAHIM GULSUNShare
Two designs stand above everything else in the Natuross collection: the tree of life and tree branches. Both have been ordered more than any other design, in more finishes, for more kitchen styles, across more years. This article explains why — and helps you decide which one is right for your kitchen.
The Tree of Life — The Most Ordered Design
The tree of life is the single most ordered design in the Natuross collection. It has been made in every finish, in every size, for kitchens ranging from farmhouse to contemporary. The reasons are not hard to understand: the tree of life is one of the most universally recognized symbols in human culture, carrying meaning across traditions — family, growth, connection, continuity — without belonging exclusively to any one of them. It is personal without being specific. It suits almost any kitchen without requiring any particular style context.
Visually, the tree of life is an ideal copper relief subject. The branching structure creates natural variation in the relief surface — thick trunk, tapering branches, fine outer twigs — that catches light differently at different points across the panel. The result is a surface that changes appearance as the light in the kitchen changes through the day.
Tree of Life Variations
The tree of life comes in several distinct versions in the Natuross collection, each with a different character:
Classic tree of life — a full canopy tree with visible roots, symmetrical and balanced. The most universally appealing version. Available in all 15 finishes.
Celtic tree of life — the branches and roots interweave in a continuous Celtic knotwork pattern, creating a more intricate and heritage-specific design. Particularly popular with customers of Irish and Scottish background, and with anyone drawn to Celtic decorative tradition.
Braided tree of life — the trunk is formed from braided or twisted strands, adding a distinctive texture to the central element of the design. Often paired with a Celtic border.
Sacred tree — a more formal, symmetrical interpretation with a Celtic border frame. The most structured version of the tree of life design.
Tree of life with birds — birds perched in the branches add life and movement to the composition. A popular choice for customers who want the tree of life with an additional element of warmth.
Tree Branches — The Most Versatile Design
Tree branches is the second most popular design in the collection — and in some ways the more versatile of the two. Where the tree of life is a complete, symbolic composition, tree branches is an organic, flowing pattern that fills the panel naturally without a fixed center or a specific symbolic meaning. It suits kitchens where the customer wants the warmth and texture of a nature-inspired design without the specific symbolism of the tree of life.
The branching pattern works particularly well at larger panel sizes — the branches spread naturally across a wide horizontal panel, filling the space with movement and detail. At smaller sizes, a section of branches with leaves creates a more intimate, close-up composition.
Tree Branches Variations
Tree branches — bare branches without leaves, emphasizing the structure and line of the branching pattern. Clean, graphic, and particularly effective in Silver–Copper and Silver–Black finishes against contemporary kitchens.
Tree branches with leaves — branches with full foliage, creating a denser, more lush composition. Warmer in character than bare branches, and particularly effective in Natural Copper and Brown Copper finishes.
Blue copper tree branches — the branching pattern in Blue Copper (verdigris) finish creates a distinctive, cool-toned panel that suits coastal and Scandinavian kitchen styles.
Tree of Life or Tree Branches — Which Is Right for You?
Choose the tree of life if: you want a design with symbolic meaning, a complete and balanced composition, or a design that works equally well at any size. The tree of life is the right choice for customers who want the panel to carry personal or family significance.
Choose tree branches if: you want an organic, flowing pattern without a fixed symbolic meaning, or if your panel is wide and horizontal and you want the design to fill the space naturally. Tree branches is the right choice for customers who want the warmth of a nature-inspired design without the specific symbolism of the tree of life.
Both designs are available in all 15 finishes and any size. Both can be combined with text — a family name, a kitchen phrase, a date — to add a personal element to the composition.
