What Font Styles Are Available for Text Panels?

Any font style is possible — script, serif, block, Celtic lettering, calligraphy, hand-lettered, modern sans-serif, or anything else you have in mind. Every Natuross text panel is custom, and the lettering style is chosen to suit the specific text, the panel size, and the kitchen it is going into. You describe what you want; Ibrahim selects and refines the letterform that will work best in copper relief.

How the Font Style Is Chosen

You do not need to name a specific font. Describe the feeling you want — formal or casual, flowing or structured, traditional or contemporary, bold or delicate — and Ibrahim will select the letterform that best suits the text and the copper relief process. If you have a reference — a font you have seen on a sign, a style from a photograph, a handwriting sample — send it. The closer the reference, the more precisely the lettering can be matched.

The design preview shows the exact lettering before production begins. If the style is not right, it is revised until it is.

What Works Best in Copper Relief

Copper relief is a three-dimensional medium — the letters are raised from the surface, with physical depth and shadow. This means some letterform characteristics translate better than others:

Script and calligraphy — flowing, connected letterforms with natural stroke variation translate beautifully into copper relief. The thick and thin strokes of a calligraphic script become high and low relief, creating a surface with genuine depth and movement. Script is the most popular lettering style for kitchen text panels — warm, personal, and visually rich.

Serif fonts — classic serif letterforms with clear stroke variation work well in copper relief. The serifs add detail and refinement to the raised letters. Serif lettering suits formal text panels, family name panels, and any text where a traditional, authoritative quality is wanted.

Block and sans-serif — bold, even-weight letterforms create a strong, graphic relief. Block lettering suits short, powerful text — a single word, a family name in capitals, a bold kitchen phrase. The even weight of the letters creates a clean, modern relief that suits contemporary kitchens.

Celtic lettering — traditional Insular script or Celtic-inspired letterforms suit heritage text panels, Irish and Scottish phrases, family mottos, and any text with a Celtic design context. Celtic lettering pairs naturally with Celtic border designs and tree of life compositions.

Very fine hairline scripts — extremely thin, delicate letterforms can lose definition in the relief process at smaller panel sizes. If you want a fine script, Ibrahim will advise on the minimum panel size needed for the lettering to read clearly. At larger sizes, even fine scripts can be rendered with good clarity.

Text Combined with Design Elements

Text panels are almost always stronger when the lettering is combined with a supporting design element — a botanical border, a decorative flourish, a relevant motif. A family name surrounded by a wreath, a kitchen phrase beneath a wheat sheaf, a word framed by a Celtic border — the combination of text and design creates a panel that is richer and more visually complete than text alone.

If you want text only — no supporting design — that is equally possible. Short, bold text in a strong letterform can stand alone as a complete composition. Ibrahim will advise on whether a supporting element would strengthen the design for your specific text and panel size.

Any Language, Any Script

Text panels are not limited to English. Any language can be rendered in copper relief — Irish, Scottish Gaelic, Italian, Spanish, French, Latin, Arabic, Hebrew, or any other language or script system. The only requirement is that the text is legible at the panel size — some script systems require larger panels to render clearly, and Ibrahim will advise if this applies to your chosen text.
