This copper no-upper-cabinet kitchen backsplash is made for kitchens where the wall above the counter stays open and visible. It works behind ranges, cooktops, sinks, prep counters, open shelves, floating shelves, coffee areas, and kitchen walls where there are no upper cabinets to define a short backsplash height.

Without upper cabinets, the backsplash becomes a major part of the room. A low strip can look unfinished on an open wall, while taller handmade copper gives the kitchen warmth, texture, and a stronger custom focal point. This is especially beautiful behind a hood, above a long counter, around open shelving, or on a sink wall with more exposed space.

Many no-upper-cabinet layouts need taller copper than a standard under-cabinet backsplash. A 24"H panel gives generous counter-wall coverage. A 30"H or 36"H panel creates a stronger open-wall feature. A 42"H panel works well for larger statement areas, tall shelf walls, and open kitchen walls where the copper should carry more of the design.

Choose 48" or 60" widths for focused open-wall areas, 72" for wider counter or hood walls, and 96" multi-panel options when the open wall continues across a larger part of the kitchen. If your wall includes a hood, shelves, window, faucet, outlets, or appliance clearances, message your measurements and we can add your exact layout as a new order option.

Cutouts and layout adjustments are available for outlets, switches, faucets, pot fillers, shelf brackets, window trim, hood details, appliance clearances, cabinet edges, and uneven wall sections. We can also adjust panel widths and seam placement so the copper fits cleanly on your open kitchen wall.

You can order the design shown in the product photos or request a new custom design. Custom design is free. Message your measurements with an image, inspiration link, or idea. We create a digital preview and send an order link before production.

Step 1 — Digital preview: We send a preview of your panel for approval before anything is made. Production begins only after your written confirmation.

Step 2 — Production: Your panel is hand-hammered to your exact specifications. Approximately 3 weeks.

Step 3 — Pre-shipping photos: Once complete, we send photos of the finished panel. Shipping takes place only after your approval. Adjustments can still be made at this stage.

Step 4 — Delivery: Ships via FedEx with tracking. Delivered to your door within one month from order date.

Material & Specs

Every Natuross® panel is real copper or brass — 24 gauge, hand-hammered, mounted over a rigid aluminum composite backing. Approximately ¼ inch (6mm) thick, flush to the wall. Weight: approximately 2.1 lb per square foot.

Sealed with a professional-grade UV-resistant lacquer — water, heat, and grease resistant. Suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, wet areas, fireplaces, and outdoor installations. No maintenance ever required.

Installation & Care

Installation — three methods:

  • Adhesive — stick directly over existing tile, drywall, wood, or stone using any standard construction adhesive. Most popular method. Most customers install in under an hour.
  • Screw mount — for large, heavy, or outdoor panels. Ships with screws and decorative caps included.
  • Hanging wire — for wall art, signs, and removable installations.

For multi-piece panels: install the central piece first, borders second.

Care:

Wipe with a soft damp cloth. For grease or cooking splashes, warm water and mild dish soap. No polishing, waxing, or re-sealing — ever. The finish you receive is the finish it keeps.
