Coast Redwood Tree Copper Panel — Hand-Hammered California & Ancient Forest Wall Art

The tallest Coast Redwood ever measured was 380.3 feet tall. It is called Hyperion. It grows in Redwood National Park. Its exact location is kept secret to protect it from visitors. The Coast Redwood is the tallest living thing on earth. It has been growing for 2,000 years.

A copper wall panel of the Coast Redwood — the massive deeply furrowed reddish-brown bark, the soft flat needles, the towering straight form of the tallest living thing on earth — hand-hammered in real copper sheet by our family using traditional chasing and repoussé techniques passed through generations. The massive deeply furrowed bark and the soft flat needles are the composition: that massive, deeply furrowed bark rendered in dimensional metalwork, the soft flat needles and towering straight form built up in fine relief, the ancient patience of a tree that was already 1,000 years old when Columbus sailed and will still be standing 1,000 years from now if we let it. In Natural Copper or Brown Copper, the warm reddish-brown tones echo the real bark. Every furrow, every needle, every detail a separate hammer stroke, thousands of them. Over 10,000 pieces made.

The Coast Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) is the tallest tree species on earth — the tallest known individual, Hyperion, stands 380.3 feet tall in Redwood National Park. It is the state tree of California and is native to a narrow coastal strip from southern Oregon to central California — a range defined by the coastal fog that provides the moisture these giants need. The bark of the Coast Redwood is up to 12 inches thick — it is fire-resistant, insect-resistant, and rot-resistant, which is why these trees can live for 2,000 years. The oldest known Coast Redwood is estimated to be over 2,200 years old. The Coast Redwood reproduces both from seed and from sprouts from the base of cut or fallen trees — a ring of redwoods growing in a circle around a stump is called a “fairy ring.” The Save the Redwoods League — founded in 1918 — has protected over 220,000 acres of redwood forest. The most towering, most ancient, and most reverentially protected tree in North America.

④ Custom or personalized design — reach out
A Coast Redwood grove interior — the cathedral canopy, the filtered light, the massive trunks receding into the fog — the most awe-inspiring and most spatially complete redwood composition in the catalog, a fairy ring of redwoods growing in a circle around an ancient stump, Hyperion — the tallest tree on earth — in a full portrait composition, a Coast Redwood in coastal fog with the soft light filtering through the canopy, a three-redwood composition — Coast Redwood, Giant Sequoia, and Dawn Redwood — the three living redwood species together — or a completely different California or Pacific Coast conifer: giant sequoia, Sitka spruce, or anything that matters to you. Or a personalized panel: your family name designed as a full copper composition, with the Coast Redwood as the central subject, in the same finish. Not a sign — a piece of art that carries your name. Complete the Look

A copper panel above your fireplace. The Coast Redwood, larger, massive trunk spanning above the mantel in Natural Copper. The most towering and most ancient focal point in the tree range — the tree that was already 1,000 years old when Columbus sailed, at full scale in copper, above the fire.

A redwood grove interior composition. The cathedral interior of the Coast Redwood grove — the massive trunks, the filtered fog light, the fern-covered floor — in Natural Copper or Brown Copper. The most spatially complete and most reverentially awe-inspiring panel in the catalog. Above the main wall of the home or great room that carries that reverence.

Your family name in copper. Not a sign — a designed panel. Your surname hand-hammered in relief, with the Coast Redwood as the central subject, in the same finish as the main panel. It goes by the front door or above the entryway. Every person who enters sees it first.

A living room or dining room panel. A coordinated California or Pacific Coast scene — a giant sequoia, a Douglas fir, a Sitka spruce — in the same finish as the Coast Redwood. The home with a consistent visual language of the ancient Pacific forest and the great conifer tradition.

If you’re thinking about more than one piece: reach out before you order. We’ll design everything together and give you project pricing for the full set.

Materials & Finishes

Real copper or brass. Hand-hammered. Sealed for life.

  • Metal: copper or brass, 24 gauge
  • Thickness: ¼ inch — same as a ceramic wall tile, mounts flush
  • Weight: ~2.1 lb/ft² — a 36×30" panel is about 16 lb, easy for one person to handle
  • Finish: clear lacquer — permanent, no maintenance ever needed

15 finishes: 7 copper patinas, 4 silver-plated, 4 gold/brass. Every finish is a real patina on real metal — not paint. Small variations in tone are part of the handmade character, not defects.

Over 10,000 panels made and installed across the United States.

Installation

Most customers install their panel themselves in under an hour.

Three ways to mount:

  • Adhesive (most popular) — stick over any surface using Liquid Nails, silicone, or thinset. Apply to the back only. Works in 90% of cases.
  • Screw mount — pre-drilled holes, included screws and matching decorative caps. Best for large panels, fireplaces, and outdoor areas.
  • Hanging wire — D-rings and wire included. Best for wall art and decorative pieces.

Works on drywall, tile, wood, stone, brick, and metal. Full instructions included with every order.

Care & Cleaning

Sealed for life. No polishing. No waxing. No re-sealing. Ever.

Just wipe with a damp cloth. For grease or splashes, a drop of mild dish soap and warm water is all you need. Avoid abrasive pads and harsh chemicals.

The finish you receive is the finish it keeps — for decades.
